Grace College and Seminary has partnered with Grace Church in Akron, Ohio (Jeff Bogue, senior pastor), to begin a Bachelor of Science in Biblical Studies.
“We’re excited to partner with Grace Church to help train the next generation of church leaders,” said Dr. Bill Katip, president of Grace College. “Our program will provide academically rigorous material, a hands-on, practical learning environment and first-rate teaching from a growing ministry in the heart of Akron.”
The biblical studies program prepares students to be servant-leaders both in church and society. Classes focus on the Old and New Testaments, theology, church history, intercultural studies, preaching, spiritual formation, and apologetics. Classes meet one evening and one Saturday per week at the church’s facility in Bath Township at 754 Ghent Road.
“We are eager to start equipping new students to plant and pastor churches,” said Jeff Bogue, senior pastor of Grace Church. “Our goal is to plant 30 churches in 30 years. We are confident that the new Grace College program will raise up workers for our churches planting efforts and for the greater kingdom,” he said.
In a sense, the new program marks a return to the Akron area for Grace College and Seminary. The seminary began in the building of the former Grace Brethren Church in the Ellet neighborhood of Akron.
