Grace College Expands Constituent Services Through Jenzabar Solutions; Web Portal and Learning Management System Build on ERP Capabilities
CAMBRIDGE, Mass.–(BUSINESS WIRE)–Aug. 22, 2005–Jenzabar, Inc., the pioneer of Total Campus Management (TCM) solutions for higher education, today announced that Grace College and Theological Seminary is implementing Jenzabar’s Internet Campus Solution (JICS) Web portal and Learning Management System (LMS). The decision to provide a fully-functional intranet and an enhanced classroom experience converged with the College’s familiarity and comfort with Jenzabar’s ERP system, which has been in place for several years. After viewing product demonstrations at the 2004 Jenzabar Annual Meeting and appreciating Jenzabar’s vision and product direction, Grace College and Theological Seminary recognized the value of a completely integrated Total Campus Management solution.
The initiatives to enrich student services via the Web and implement a course management system coincided with an overall evaluation of the College’s administrative systems. Jenzabar’s ongoing commitment to support a variety of platforms along with enhancements to its ERP system provided a solid foundation that will be leveraged by the portal and learning management system through a single database architecture. The JICS portal provides a secure site and a “hub” for communication and interaction, and will effectively become the College’s intranet for students, faculty and staff. The faculty also is looking forward to the efficiencies and supplemental classroom capabilities provided through the Jenzabar Learning Management System.
“Internally we wanted to eliminate many of the manual processes associated with campus administration and provide a heightened level of self-service to our constituents,” said Don Fluke, Grace College and Theological Seminary’s Director of Computer Services. “Externally we wanted to improve the experience of interacting with the College, from the time a prospect first encounters us through their ongoing involvement as an alumnus. The product functionality and customer support provided by Jenzabar augments the value of an integrated system and helps us see that we can continue to expand our constituent services in the future.”
Two areas in which the College and Theological Seminary sees exceptional benefit coming from service expansion are student recruiting and advising via the Web. Interaction with prospects will be greatly enhanced, not only through communication with advisors but also through self-service capabilities in collecting information and applying to the institution. Additionally, the portal will facilitate the posting of events and announcements along with specific group and club information to support the campus community.
“It is a strong testament to the value of our products and services when a longstanding client institution chooses to build on our existing relationship,” said Robert A. Maginn, Chairman and CEO of Jenzabar, Inc. “Grace College and Theological Seminary has seen the value that Jenzabar brings to its customers, and because of that they are moving to a new level in their utilization of our Total Campus Management solution. We look forward to supporting their decision with the vision, product quality, and overall customer care that have marked Jenzabar as an industry leader,” he added.
Jenzabar’s Learning Management System (LMS) provides tools and strategies to supplement traditional classroom learning. The system also can be used for distance or online education models. Communication between faculty and students and among students themselves is greatly enhanced through the Jenzabar LMS. Accessing the LMS through the JICS portal enables announcements and updates, Web links, threaded discussion and real-time chat. Further, connecting an institution’s ERP system to its LMS provides students and faculty with course information, schedules, and class lists. Additionally, faculty members have access to pre-populated gradebooks and attendance sheets.
Jenzabar’s Total Campus Management (TCM) framework meets the unique business needs of higher education with a comprehensive approach to software and services, from a front-end campus portal to fully integrated, functionally-rich enterprise systems. Each custom-tailored TCM solution is built from Jenzabar’s integrated ERP, campus intelligence, Internet portal, and constituent relationship modules.
