Grace College Homecoming will take place Friday and Saturday, October 5 and 6, 2018, on the Winona Lake, Ind., campus. The weekend is designed for alumni, students and families to reconnect with friends, tour campus, enjoy entertainment, competition and more. “The focus of the weekend is to honor our alumni and enjoy fellowship together,” said Denny Duncan, director of alumni engagement at Grace College. “From chapel on Friday morning to the concert on Saturday night, we hope our friends, alumni, parents, and students will enjoy the variety of festivities on campus.”
Check-in begins at 8:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 5, in the Manahan Orthopaedic Capital Center (MOCC), 610 Wooster Rd., Winona Lake. Coffee and light refreshments will be served in the Bill and Ella Male Hospitality Suite, located on the upper concourse. Alumni and parent award winners will be honored during Homecoming Chapel, beginning at 10:30 a.m. in the MOCC. At 2 p.m., alumni and friends can enjoy a bus tour of campus guided by Dr. Terry White (BME 64).
All are invited to the Dr. Dane A. Miller Science Complex Open House beginning at 3:30 p.m. Friday. Drop in and meet with current faculty, staff, and students, and learn about the opportunities provided by the new facility. There will be a formal dedication of the complex at 4:45 p.m. in the main lobby.
At midnight on Friday, alumni and friends are invited to enjoy a late night of comedy. The Back in Five Reunion show will feature current and former members of Grace College’s premier comedy group. This all-star show will be a fun way to unwind from a busy week.
Be sure not to miss the Homecoming Parade at 11 a.m. on Saturday morning. The homecoming court, alumni award winners, and various student groups will lead the festivities. At Noon, there will be a short dedication of the Coach Phil Dick Memorial Field, followed by a tailgate with food, face painting, a bounce house, and more at the Miller Athletic Complex. At 2 p.m., cheer on the men’s soccer team as they take on Bethel.
Class reunions for 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50+ years will take place throughout Saturday afternoon and evening. The weekend will conclude with a concert from the No-Name Quartet Saturday at 7:30 p.m. in the Winona Heritage Room. This all-alumni group includes Bob Jackson (BS 91), Jeff Secaur (BS 81, S 84), Mike Yocum (BS 79), and Tim Yocum (BS 84). They primarily perform Southern Gospel music with intricate four-part harmonies.
