Grace College will welcome Dr. Georgia Purdom, ministry content administrator for Answers in Genesis, to campus on Thursday, March 28. Purdom will present an apologetics lecture entitled “Were Adam and Eve Real People?” at 7 p.m. in Westminster Hall. The event is free and open to the public.
“In an increasingly secular world, we need to get back to basic, biblical truth,” said Dr. Tiberius Rata, associate dean of the School of Ministry Studies and professor of Old Testament studies at Grace College. He added, “Dr. Purdom is a recognized expert in both scientific research and apologetics. Her lecture will challenge us to think biblically and empower us to speak confidently about our faith.”
Dr. Purdom is the first female PhD scientist engaged in full-time research and speaking on the Book of Genesis for a creationist organization. Her scientific research focuses on the roles of natural selection and mutation in microbes, in order to understand how their original, good purpose has changed to its current, harmful state. She holds a PhD in molecular genetics from the Ohio State University and formerly served in the biology department at Mt. Vernon Nazarene University.
“We hope that many from the community will plan to attend Dr. Purdom’s lecture. They are sure to leave inspired and emboldened in their faith,” said Rata.
