Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, Indiana, is sponsoring two upcoming Religious Studies Symposia.
The first, to be held Tuesday, March 21, in the McClain Hall auditorium on the Grace campus, is entitled “Recent Versions of the Bible and the Whistleblowers” and will approach the question “Do some translations misrepresent what the Bible means?”
Keynote speakers will be Dr. Douglas Moo (pictured) of Wheaton College in Illinois and Dr. Mark Fairchild, Huntington University, Huntington, IN. Douglas J. Moo (Ph.D., St. Andrews) is Blanchard Professor of New Testament at Wheaton College Graduate School. He is the author of the New International Commentary on Romans, the Tyndale New Testament Commentary on James, and is coauthor (with D. A. Carson and Leon Morris) of An Introduction to the New Testament.
Dr. Moo will lecture at 4:30 p.m., and Dr. Fairchild will give a response at 5:15 p.m. There will be a dinner at 5:45 p.m., and at 7 p.m. a panel discussion on the subject will convene. Panelists will include Dr. Douglas Moo, Dr. Mark Fairchild, Ms. Dawn Modlin, Dr. Mark Soto; emcee: Dr. David Plaster.
A second event is entitled “A Biblical Theology of the New Covenant” and this will be an Inaugural Lecture by Dr. Tiberius Rata, Associate Professor of Old Testament, Grace Theological Seminary.
This lecture will be Thursday, April 6, at 7 pm in the seminary’s Ashman Chapel. A reception will follow the lecture.
