Veterans wrapped in warmth and love of Quilts of Valor
This year’s incredibly touching Quilt of Valor Presentation was also a record setting year for quilts given to veterans. The Christian Sisters Quilters, who make and present the quilts each year to a nominated veteran, gave out ten gorgeous homemade quilts.
The veterans that were recognized with a quilt this year were : SP E4 James E. Shriver, E4 David L. Davis, SGT. Donald Gull, E5 David Sinclair, E4 French Cox, Lt. Col. Trenton Pauley, E5 John E. Whitescarver, Master Petty Officer John H. Pickens, SGT. E5 David Nines, and Tech E6 Donna Sue Jolliffe.
The ladies that constructed these beautiful patriotic quilts were : Carolyn Bee, Bobbie Bolyard, Jo Carder, Linda Coole, Diane Cox, Patty Ford, Camilla Gawthrop, Sheryl Isner, Elaine McGill, Mary Radcliff, Alice Roger, Charlotte Sapp, Anna Jane Shriver, Jane Trickett, Beverly Kinsey and Becky Willis.
The ceremony was held at First Grace Brethren Church with Pastor Michael Willis presiding over the ceremony.
“This is the seventh year that Quilts of Valor have been presented to veterans here in Taylor county. And it’s the third year we have held it at the church. It’s been growing every year and we are very thankful for that,” said Willis.
