For the past two years, the Grace Brethren Church of Homerville, Ohio (Reid Firestone, pastor) has partnered with the Friends of Black River to host the SOS 5K and Mile Fun Run.
This year, the race on Saturday, March 22 will be in honor of Drew Guyer, a 13-year old boy who passed away in December after collapsing during an open gym session at McCormick Middle School. Proceeds will go to help children in need who want to participate in Dukes soccer and basketball youth programs like Guyer did.
“We have hosted the event for two years, and the community has bonded through the tragedy,” said Reid Firestone, pastor at Homerville Grace Brethren.
