Hundreds of people joined Urban Hope Community Church, Philadelphia, Pa., on a beautiful Saturday afternoon, April the 21, for the Spring Carnival. The people from Urban Hope Community Church led the event and were partnered by almost 70 people from churches in New Philadelphia, Ohio; Lititz, Pennsylvania; Hagerstown, Maryland; and Waynesboro, Pennsylvania. These training center teams helped set the pace for the Saturday event. Thank you to Amber Richardson who oversaw the logistics and others who assisted.
Three churches from the Maryland/Pennsylvania border arrived on Thursday evening, April 19. The groups received training and helped with promoting the carnival. They also went to South Philadelphia and spent a couple hours feeding homeless people. Feeding and praying for the homeless is not only good for the community, but the people also make positive life changes. The homeless ministry is a ministry of Urban Hope Community Church and the visiting teams. It was good to not only feed people that needed assistance, but to have an entire group sing worship songs as we shared with them and gave them clothes, including jackets and sweaters.
God uses these events at Urban Hope on a regular basis not only to impact the community but to train people how to love and serve others. — from cenational.org
