Yesterday a post from Pastor Scott Distler of our Grace Brethren church in Lititz, Pennsylvania, asked prayer for a team which included his daughter, currently stuck in Heathrow airport in London because of security issues and flight cancellations. Here is today’s update from Scott:
Thank you for your continued prayers for our Italy team including leader, Cindy Wilson and several students from Lititz Christian School including our daughter, Joy.
The team spent all day and all night yesterday (Tuesday) at the Heathrow Airport after all of the fights were cancelled from their terminal due to a breech of security. In order to reorganize the terminal, the airport made all the passengers leave so our team actually spent a portion of the night trying to sleep in the airport parking garage with hundreds of other people.
We praise the Lord that they were able to make contact with Tom and Mary Ann Barlow who are Grace Brethren missionaries in London who rescued them and took them to their house where they have been able to shower, sleep and get something to eat.
We are so thankful for the Barlows and their gracious hospitality to our team. The family of God is a wonderful thing. The team will sleep at the Barlows tonight and then they will head back to Heathrow very early in the morning where they are currently confirmed on a British Airways flight that is scheduled to arrive in Philadelphia Thursday afternoon at about 2:30.
