Jim Cymbala, pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle in New York City, was the guest speaker at the 10:30 a.m. session this morning and he will speak again this evening.
Beginning with only about 18 members in 1972, Cymbala and his wife, Carol, who directs the Grammy Award-winning Brooklyn Tabernacle Choir, have grown the New York church to many thousands of weekend attenders.
The author of several books, including Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, Cymbala addressed the conference this morning on the topic “The Power of the Spirit,” using texts from 1 Samuel 23 and from Acts 16.
The noon luncheon today was Grace Brethren North American Missions, and many of the North American missionaries gave short reports on their ministries. Tomorrow’s noontime luncheon and corporation meeting will be the Brethren Missionary Herald Company, and featured speakers will be recent BMH Books authors Tom Julien, Tim Boal, Sherwood Lingenfelter, and Kristine Pappas.
