On Sunday, December 29, our sister and partner in the gospel, Karina Corrales, went to be with the Lord after battling cancer for several months. Pray for her family and friends in Argentina, as well as former coworkers and students in Chad and Cameroon.
While a school teacher in Argentina, Karina became interested in ministry in Chad when hearing Chadians share in her local church. She persevered through several years of training and preparation before leaving Argentina for language study in May 2003.
Karina taught children’s ministries and how to share Biblical truth through stories for preliterate people. She endured years in the harsh climate of Chad to help the Chadian church reach children with the gospel. In 2016, she continued this ministry in Cameroon until the end of 2018, when she returned to Argentina.
When he heard of Karina’s illness this past fall, Pastor Ndoubagoussou Justin wrote from Chad, “Truly Karina is the servant of the Lord who chose a ministry from the heart of Jesus Christ because of the love of children, and she trains brothers and sisters to become children’s Sunday School teachers for the glory of God. God, you gave Karina quality for teaching your word, and I am one of those she trained. Oh, God, watch over our beloved for her health and give courage to those around her. From afar, Chad is praying in the name of Jesus.”
On hearing of her death, Kirk and Kay Carver, Encompass missionaries, wrote, “We served in Chad through Encompass World Partners with Karina. Karina went to Chad to teach oral Bible storytelling and children’s ministries. She was the only Spanish speaker on our team. Her health was frail, and she suffered physically in the unforgiving heat of Sub-Saharan Africa.
“Karina returned to Argentina a couple of years ago. She was diagnosed with abdominal cancer several months ago. She went to the Lord yesterday, December 29, 2019, at 49 years old. Praise God, she is in His presence! It is a privilege to serve Him with her.
“While we grieve her absence from us, we know that she is now with Jesus, whom she loved. What a homecoming she enjoyed when she reached heaven after years of faithful ministry. Please celebrate with us what God accomplished through Karina’s life and ministry.”
Please continue to pray for Karina’s family and friends. – from encompassworldpartners.org
