Kings Kaleidoscope will perform for the second time on the Grace College campus Friday, Sept. 10, at 7 p.m. on the lawn at the corner of King’s Highway and Wooster Rd. in Winona Lake, Ind.
Kings Kaleidoscope will perform for the second time on the Grace College campus in Winona Lake, Ind., on Friday, Sept. 10. The 7 p.m. concert will take place on the lawn at the corner of King’s Highway and Wooster Rd. Part of the Grace College and Village at Winona Festival of Music, the free, outdoor concert will take place during Grace’s annual “Sibs Weekend” as students enjoy a weekend with their siblings.
“I am excited to welcome back Kings Kaleidoscope to Grace College,” said Dr. Wally Brath, 2021 Festival of Music coordinator and Grace College director of worship arts. “They are one of the most creative and thoughtful Christian bands on the scene right now,” he said.
The Seattle-based group uses an eclectic range of modern, woodwind, string and brass instruments for a colorful, stylistic harmony that stands greater than the sum of its parts. Lead singer Chad Gardner leads the collective of friends that marry electronic and analogue soundscapes. Gardner carries the lyrics with a soulful treatment that complements calculated drum work to create a balance between groove and mathematics.
King Kaleidoscope’s trademark is their ever-growing accent across their three LP albums and their critically-acclaimed mixtape, “The Beauty Between.” The band has been garnering attention since 2010 and is known for their musical and lyrical call for cosmic reflection.
Brath also expressed his excitement about the opening act for the concert. “Our opening act this year is our very own Samuel Schmidt, a recent worship arts graduate,” said Brath. “Sam is a very gifted multi-instrumental musician, playing guitar, piano, drums, and voice,” he said.
A 2021 May graduate, Schmidt makes piano-pop music, self-described as “theatrical” and “upbeat.” His sound draws comparisons to Jason Mraz and Jon Bellion. The artist has opened for the popular musical duo, The Brilliance, as well as the Christian music band, Citizens, when they performed at Grace last year.
