Word has been received of the death of Kitty Snavely, wife of former Grace Brethren pastor and church planter, Jim Snavely. Her obituary appears below.
Kitty L. Snavely, 66, of Bloomsburg, Pa., formerly of Lock Haven, and Lancaster County, went safely home in the arms of Jesus on Tuesday, September 15, 2015. Born in Johnstown, she was the daughter of the late Fred B. and Jane Rodger Zimmerman. Kitty was the loving wife of the Reverend James E. Snavely and they observed their 46thwedding anniversary this month. She was a graduate of Forbes High School in Johnstown, and the Allentown Hospital School of Nursing. As a registered nurse, Kitty provided care to patients in area local hospitals, homes, and with Hospice Care. She attended Shiloh Bible Church, Bloomsburg; and was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Throughout her life she helped her husband with his ministry as he developed and started new churches. Kitty’s life-long passion was her family which she loved, and was a devoted grandma, mother, and wife.
Surviving in addition to her husband, James, is a son, Nathan, husband of Jill Snavely of Bloomsburg; a daughter, Laurie, wife of Steve Long of Bloomsburg; six grandchildren: Benjamin, Gabriel, Emily, Shay, Alayna, and Montgomery, a sister, Connie, wife of David O’Dell, of Lonoke, Ark., sisters-in-law: Joyce, wife of Irwin Groff; Barb, wife of Dennis Weaver; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Relatives and friends are respectfully invited to attend Kitty’s service of remembrance and celebration at Grace Church of Lititz, 501 West Lincoln Avenue, Lititz, Pa., on Saturday, September 19, 2015 at 11:00 a.m. Friends may visit with the family at the church on Saturday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be private and at the convenience of the family. Please omit flowers.
