If you died today, and God asked why He should let you into heaven, what would you say? Here’s the proper answer.
Eternal life is a gift of God.
For the wages of sin is death, but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord (Romans 6:23).
Sin prevents us from eternal life.
Therefore, just as sin entered the world through one man, and death through sin, and in this way death came to all men, because all sinned (Romans 5:12).
We cannot save ourselves.
He saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy (Titus 3:5).
God is love, but He is also just–He must judge sin.
Yet he does not leave the guilty unpunished (Exodus 34:7).
Christ, the Son of God, paid our penalty.
But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8).
Putting your faith in Him is the answer.
Yet to all who received him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God (John 1:12).
If you want to receive Christ, pray this prayer.
Dear Lord,
I have sinned and cannot save myself. I believe Jesus, the Son of God, died for my sins and rose from the dead. I now put my complete faith in You. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
What now?
Make a public confession of your faith (Matthew 10:32; Romans 10:9-10).
Be baptized in obedience to Christ and in testimony to your faith (Matthew 28-19-20; Acts 8:35-39; 16:30-34; Romans 6:3-5).
Keep fellowship with other Christians and learn the Word of God (Acts 2:41-42; Hebrews 10:24-25).
Go to God in prayer often
Read God’s Word daily
Obey God’s Word
Witness to others of Christ
