A Mansfield, Ohio couple has created quite a buzz throughout the area and even beyond, with their innovative productions of biblical plays.
Congregations as far away as Wyoming have inquired about these creative productions and fans of the plays simply can’t wait for the next performance.
David Lewis and wife Janea are currently working on their third play for the Woodville Grace Brethren Church (Ron Smals, pastor) drama department after the couple’s previous two works were highly successful. They developed an affection for evolving biblical play scripts when they basically rewrote one on-the-fly while preparing for their first play at the church as actors.
The duo then decided to try their hand at writing scripts and through a collaborative effort, have reinvented the way many view church plays.
The Lewis’ latest production “Angels of the Empyrean: The Son of the Horizon” won over audiences during the Christmas season with intricate dialogue and fresh perspectives, but also left them wanting more. A climatic, unsettled ending was followed by the impeding phrase “To Be Continued…” and audiences have been thirsty for a sequel ever sense.
