This Saturday morning Maranatha Brethren Church in Hagerstown, MD (Jay Fretz, pastor), will be providing a free car wash to people who live in the neighborhood of the church building. A special attraction will be the showing of “Born Again II,” a composite car constructed by Maranatha member DeWitt Powell.
Pastor Jay Fretz says, “This is the first time for a long time we’ve made this kind of outreach to our immediate neighbors.” Church members have distributed more than 300 flyers inviting local residents to the free carwash.
The church will provide a place to sit in the shade and sip a cool drink while people watch their cars being washed. “Born Again II,” which is often on display at car shows along the eastern seaboard, will be there, along with the specially-produced tract which explains a little bit about the car and gives the plan of salvation.
Powell says he and his wife, Caroline, have distributed more than 125,000 of the tracts so far. CE National recognized their efforts in 2004 by giving the Powells a special “Outreach Award” for their work.
