Upon graduation, Marion joined the United State Navy where he proudly served as a submariner in the Pacific Theater during World War II. Marion met his first wife, Dorothy, and had four children together. The couple opened their home for a Bible study which grew very quickly and eventually became Grace Brethren Church. Today it is known as Grace Polaris Church. As the years went by, Marion started various Bible groups. Most recently, he founded his condominium Bible study group. Marion also served on many Grace Brethren boards, including the board of missions. In his earlier years he went on multiple mission trips where he was able to help spread the gospel. Throughout his career, Marion loved visiting and praying with people in need. He especially loved visiting hospitals and praying with patients and their families. After Dorothy died, Marion met Ann at Grace Polaris Church where they were happily married for nearly 15 years. Outside of his ministry work, Marion enjoyed gardening, most recently at the condo community where he and Ann resided. Using his electrical skills, he enjoyed helping people with small projects.
Marion will be greatly missed by his wife of nearly 15 years, Ann Forrest; children, Marion “Butch” (Mary Jane) Forrest, Dale (Joanne) Forrest, David (Betsy) Forrest, and Carol Stoner; stepchildren, Peter Rogers (Sheila), Paul Rogers, and Kevin (Shari) Rogers; grandchildren, Christy (Jim) Cuschleg and Brian (Bobbie) Forrest, Benji (Sarah), Andy (Jennifer), Mathew (Jessica), and Sarah Forrest, Ricky (Jessica) Stoner and Beth (Halit) Erciyas, 19 great grandchildren, and many dear friends.
A memorial service celebrating Marion’s life will be held at 11 a.m., Friday August 2, 2019, at the Grace Polaris Church, 8225 Worthington-Galena Road, Westerville, Ohio.
