An email note over the weekend from Dave Guiles, executive director of Encompass World Partners, has called for a day of prayer and fasting for the political situation in the Central African Republic (CAR). He asked Grace Brethren people around the world to join him in prayer on May 8. A portion of his request appears below. Click here to read the entire message.
The political unrest and conflict continues in the Central African Republic and the ministry has come to a standstill. Missionaries have not left the mission compound for the past month. They are now planning to temporarily relocate to Cameroon until Bangui becomes more stable. Staff members Josh and Rachel Flaningan remain in Ohio until they can safely return to the mission field.
It is time to drop to our knees and pray like never before. I am calling all of our churches in the United States to designate May 8 as a Day of Prayer and Fasting for Peace in the CAR. I am also reaching out to our churches around the world through the CHARIS network to also join us in prayer. As we pray and fast, I am requesting that we unite our hearts and voices before the throne around these three requests:Please pray specifically for:
- Peace and political stability in the Central African Republic. This is so the work of His church in evangelism and discipleship can go forward unimpeded.
- Protection for His people in the midst of the current instability. Pray for our Encompass staff as well as for our thousands of African brothers and sisters in Christ.
- The glory of God to be manifest in this situation. May the testimony of His people be strong, may their light shine brightly and may His church grow in and through this trial.
Before the Day of Prayer & Fasting, we will post additional prayer requests and praises that you will be able to print out and use throughout the Day of Prayer and Fasting.
