Meghan Strine, who was featured recently in the GraceConnect eNews and on this site, died on Friday evening. She was a staff member at Grace Brethren Church, Ashland, Ohio (Dan Allan, pastor). Her obituary appears below.
Meghan Elizabeth Strine, age 31, passed away late Friday evening, March 10, 2017. She was born March 25, 1985, in Ashland, Ohio, to Michael and Kathy (Lafferty) Strine.
After graduating from Ashland High School, Meghan attended the Conservatory of Music at Capital University where she studied vocal performance. Meghan was formerly employed as a secretary at Constellation Schools in Mansfield, then worked as an administrative assistant at Blanchard Valley Women’s and Children’s Center. She currently worked as Administrative Assistant for Youth and Music at Grace Brethren Church in Ashland, where she also served on the worship team, choir, youth staff and coached basketball. Her passion was working with children and youth. She also enjoyed geocaching and traveling with her friends.
Meghan is survived by her father, Mike Strine; sister, Kaitlin (Steve) McGrath; a niece and nephew, Cecilia and Vincent McGrath; grandparents, Joan Lafferty and Carl and Gloria Strine; aunts and uncles, Kim (Tom) Shenberger, Kevin Lafferty, JoAnne (Jamie) Kash, Carol (Robert) Polin and Cindy (Ray) Mastriani; and cousins, John (Beth) Shenberger, Jake Shenberger, Sam Shenberger, Tim Lafferty, Stacie Lafferty, James (Brindi) Doyle, and Jennifer (Matthew) Latham. She was preceded in death by her mother, Kathy Strine and maternal grandfather, Mel Lafferty.
The family will receive friends from 4:00-8:00 p.m. Thursday, March 16, 2017, at Grace Brethren Church, 1144 W. Main St., Ashland. Additional visitation will be held beginning at 10:00 a.m. Friday, at the church, followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m. Pastor Dan Allan and Pastor Greg Summers will conduct the service. She will be laid to rest in Vermillion Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Grace Brethren Church or the James Cancer Center.
