Drawings and photographs by Dave Mitchell, a local artist, photographer, and 1965 graduate of Grace College’s art program, will be featured in the Art Gallery of Mount Memorial Hall, 200 Seminary Dr., Winona Lake, Ind. His exhibit entitled, “A Matter of Seconds: Hot Rods, a Rodeo, and Sunsets,” will be on display from Oct. 4 – Dec. 7. The community is invited to visit the free exhibit.
Mitchell’s love for the arts began when he was six years old. He drew cars on the back of church bulletins during the services. His car drawings, rodeo photograph, and love of photographing sunsets took him to unexpected places. His exhibit depicts moments of his journey since graduating from Grace.
“We are happy to have Dave’s drawn images and photographs in our gallery. His colorful drawings and beautiful sunsets allow us to share his journey of how to ‘frame’ the picture. His work reveals his desire to encourage others to find their own artistic spirit,” said Kim M. Reiff, chair of the Visual, Performing, and Media Arts Department and assistant dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.
Dave is also a former pastor in the Charis Fellowship.
The Art Talk and Artist’s Reception previously scheduled for Oct. 25 at 7 p.m. have been postponed and will be announced at a later date.
Gallery hours are Monday-Friday, 10:30 a.m. – 5 p.m. and Saturday 1-4 p.m. The gallery is ADA accessible. For more information, call Grace College Department of Visual, Performing, and Media Arts at 574-372-5100, ext. 6022, or email vpma@grace.edu.
