Pray for Grace Brethren church planter Kurt Miller (he’s director of strategic partnerships at MetroGrace in Philadelphia, Pa) and his wife, Anecia. Her mother, Lucille Ritchey, died Saturday in Johnstown, Pa. A service will be held at a later date. Below is what Kurt sent to friends, family, and supporters on Saturday. An obituary appears below that.
Following a heart attack earlier in the week, Anecia’s mother, Lucille Ritchey, went home to be with our Lord this morning (August 17) just before 6:00 a.m. She was in the hospital in Johnstown, Pa. Anecia and I had stopped by to see her last night not realizing that we would end up staying the night waiting for the Lord to release her to her Heavenly reward.
She is survived by their three daughters, Linda Phillips, of Urbana, Ohio; Anecia Miller and husband Rev. Kurt Miller, of Martinsburg, Pa.; Mary Lu Edwards and husband Sherwood Edwards, of Connellsville, Fayette County, Pa.; two sons, Leon Ritchey and wife Ethel (Bishop) Ritchey, of Pennsburg, Montgomery County, Pa.; and Tim Ritchey, of Everett, Pa.; nine grandchildren and thirteen great grandchildren; two sisters, Jean (Chaney) Blumenshine and husband Ike Blumenshine, of Columbia, Lancaster County, Pa., and Dawn S. Chaney of Greensboro, N. C., and a brother, Clair V. Chaney of Houston, Tex.
In addition to her parents and husband, Floyd, she was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Richard Phillips, a sister, Faye Protheroe, and her husband, Phil Protheroe, a sister-in-law, Deloris Chaney, and a nephew, Dan Chaney.
Mrs. Ritchey was a member of the Clear Ridge Fellowship Church, attended the Pennwood Bible Church, and was a graduate of Broad Top High School Class of 1940.
She and her husband owned and operated the Milky Way Farm Dairy in West Providence Township until their retirement in 1984. At home, Lucille enjoyed reading, baking, vegetable and flower gardening and traveling with Floyd in their motor home. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and sister who will be greatly missed for her caring, giving and quick and clever ways.
A memorial service will be held at a later date with a full notice published in the Bedford Gazette.
