Norm Gunsolley, long-time administrator of Warsaw (Ind.) Christian School, died early this morning. Warsaw Christian School is a ministry of Community Grace Brethren Church, Warsaw, Ind. Services will be held Saturday, December 17, at the church. His obituary appears below.
Norman Allen Gunsolley of Winona Lake, Ind., died at 6:39 a.m. on Monday, December 12, 2016 at Grace Village Health Care of Winona Lake at the age of 72.
Norman graduated from high school in 1962 in Columbus, Neb. In 1966, he received his Bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education from Trinity College, Deerfield, Ill., and earned his Master’s degree from the University of South Dakota in School Administration in 1970.
Before retiring in 2012, Norman had a 46-year long career in education. He began his career with schools in Illinois. Later he started Community Christian School in Fort Dodge, Iowa, and worked there for ten years until moving to Kosciusko County, Ind. in 1987. The last 25 years of his career were spent as the administrator at Warsaw Christian School. He was a former member of the International Association of Christian Schools.
Norman was an active member of Community Grace Brethren Church of Warsaw and served as an Elder, Deacon, and Sunday School teacher. He enjoyed camping, gardening, feeding and watching birds, reading and studying his Bible. He enjoyed spending time with his family, playing games, and attending his grandchildren’s sporting events.
He was born on January 21, 1944, in Sioux City, Iowa, to the late Earl Thomas Gunsolley and Marian Frances (Cain) Gunsolley, who survives in Stanton, Neb. On June 11, 1966, he married Mary Lou (Beddoe) Gunsolley, who survives in Winona Lake, Ind.
He will be lovingly remembered by his wife and mother, as well as his four daughters: Michelle (fiancé Tim Grusenmeyer) (Fort Wayne, Ind.); Kristine (husband Eric) Bowling (West Chicago, Ill.); Janelle (husband Aaron) Turner (Winona Lake, Ind.); Lisa (husband Paul) Greunke (Omaha, Neb.); and eleven grandchildren. Also surviving are two brothers: Ronald (wife Joanne) Gunsolley (Marquette, Kan.); Timothy (wife Beth) Gunsolley (Colorado Springs, Co.); and his sister: Susanne Kment (Stanton, Neb.). He was preceded in death by his father.
Visitation will be held from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Friday, December 16, 2016, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, 225 Argonne Road, Warsaw, Ind.
His funeral service will be conducted at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016, at Community Grace Brethren Church, 909 S. Buffalo Street, Warsaw, Ind., and officiated by Pastor Roy Chapin. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw.
