The video recording of the memorial service for Professor Donald E. Ogden, which was held Saturday, July 11, at the Winona Lake, Ind., Grace Brethren Church, is now available online. Click here to watch the service (or click on the link above).
Participants in the service include former students and colleagues of Prof. Ogden. Rich Dick and Bill Schaffer played the prelude on the piano and organ, respectively. Terry White conducted the congregational singing and the volunteer choir, which sang A Mighty Fortress is Our God (arr. Mueller) and My Eternal King (Marshall). Miriam Pacheco sang When All Thy Mercies, accompanied by Sharon White. Congregational songs were And Can It Be? and Great is Thy Faithfulness.
Bruce Barlow, pastor of the church, welcomed the audience. Brian Benjamin, chaplain at Grace Retirement Village, read scripture, while Kip Cone gave the message.
Tributes were given by Ron Ogden, Prof.’s son, Dr. Ron Manahan, and Dr. Phil Norris.
The closing musical number was The Trumpet Shall Sound by Brent Wilcoxson and Phil Norris.
According to White, the program was planned by Ogden before his death.
Ogden died Saturday, June 27, 2015, in Warsaw, Ind., at the age of 88. Click here for his obituary.
