This summer, Operation Barnabas is excited to be heading back to the West Coast for the first time in 10 years. There will be two teams traveling throughout California, doing what OB does best – encouraging churches and ministering to people, all while sharing the love of Jesus!
Leading the Southern California team is Timothy Kurtaneck (aka. TK). This will be TK’s 19th tour with Operation Barnabas. TK has been on staff with CE National since 1995. He is the director of Operation Barnabas and youth leadership training. TK and his wife Dana have been married for 28 years and their children are Bekah (OB 2010; leader 2013, 2014, and 2018) and Nick (OB 2012). TK says, “I have had the opportunity of a lifetime to be involved with Operation Barnabas through the years. I am as committed as ever to seeing the next generation trained and equipped in ministry and to see God use them in great ways for His glor y. OB 2018, here we go!”
The administrative leader for the Northern California team is Shawn Mason. This will be Shawn’s third time leading Operation Barnabas (2012 and 2015). Shawn has been on staff at Community Grace Brethren Church in Warsaw, Indiana, as their youth pastor for four years. Shawn is married to Alex, who also led OB in 2015. Alex currently works as a medical assistant with Parkview Occupational Health. They are also the proud parents of almost 2-year-old daughter, Sadie. Shawn has been involved in youth ministry for 7-plus years and loves to see young people grow in their walk with Jesus and in their ability to share their faith with those around them. He is very excited to be leading Operation Barnabas and looks forward to seeing what God is going to do in and through these students this summer! — from CENational.org
