The 2017 Operation Barnabas team members are busy preparing for their ministry training tours, which began June 18 with orientation in Winona Lake, Ind. On Thursday, the teams head out for several weeks of ministry. Team Hoosier, led by Timothy (TK) Kurtanek, will travel through northeast Indiana and Ohio. Team Atlantic, led by Christian McAllister, will travel through Ohio, Pennsylvania, and Maryland. (Click here for complete schedules.)
Students have come from throughout the country to participate in Operation Barnabas. Click here for the complete team lists. Learn more about the team leaders here.
Yesterday was a full day. Here’s an excerpt from the OB blog:
Our day was certainly full! In addition to choir and evangelism training, students also learned our speech choir and the classic OB Thank You song. Mid-afternoon, students heard from TK about behavioral expectations, after which they were creatively split into six different groups having to find students by making assigned animal noises which were given beforehand – with eyes shut. After the chaotic eruption of moos, clucks, and roars, it was revealed that half of these groups made up Team Atlantic and the other half Team Hoosier.
Elated, teams each had their first team meetings, and then launched into 3 Group practices, learning puppets, dances, and mimes. After some additional programming practices, students were challenged by Ed Lewis about honoring authority in the evening. Ed discussed the responsibility to honor authority that has been placed over students. This was a good time of challenge that spurred meaningful conversations.
The teams will be blogging throughout their tour. Click here to receive an email each time a blog is posted.
