From CE National, the sponsor of Operation Barnabas (OB), the summer ministry training program for teens, comes a report from Day 3 of orientation.
The Spirit of God has moved deeply as the 2007 OBer’s have now officially been in Lititz, Pa. only 55 hours. Today’s focus was two-fold: our own spiritual walks and outreach.
Each student was given an hour to spend in personal devotion before the Lord, and this set the pace for the heart changes and willingness to serve throughout the day.
Ed Lewis shared three separate outreach session, preparing the students for a unique event held later in the evening. Time was allotted for the guys to sharpen their sermons with the male leaders while the ladies worked on how to better communicate their stories to an audience. The chapel was filled with songs and sounds (most on key…they’re still learning), which led up to dinner.
Many church members came in the evening to help assist with the outreach training. Here, students got to gather in small groups with a “stranger” (church member) and practice their new evangelism methods. Overall, the leadership team was pleased and impressed as the students gained confidence with each new person they encountered. So many are ready to share the Word with the world now!
Lastly, our final session ended with the students searching their hearts and spending time in confession to the Lord. Many shared testimonies of broken hearts as they let go of sins that have hindered their walk. The time ended with tears, prayer, and holding hands in corporate worship. We are ready, the soil is no longer hardened.
