“I don’t know when there’s ever been another time in the life of our church when we’ve actually had the money in advance with the vision that matches it and the ability to be able to move forward positively and know it’s been paid for,” said Greg Serafino, pastor of Grace Brethren Church, Osceola, Ind., on Sunday as he announced a nearly $2 million gift to the church.
In a video posted to the church’s Facebook page, Serafino shares how the decision had just been made on Tuesday night to hire a children’s pastor. He detailed how he looked forward to moving ahead, beginning with detailed prayer about the future and what it would look like for the church.
A few days later, he received a call.
“[I had] had an opportunity to sit down with somebody who said that the vision of the future for our church is something that we want to invest in,” he recalled. “That’s something we see as an incredible part of the ministry moving forward.”
The couple made the gift, which will not only cover the salary and benefits for a children’s pastor for three years, but will also pay for the development of a new children’s wing at the church’s Apple Road property.
“We are very excited for how God has worked through our little church and are so excited about how this affects the future of ministry here,” Serafino said this morning.
