Pataskala Grace Church undertakes major renovation project
Pataskala Grace Church is in the midst of a sweeping “revitalization process,” according to new lead Pastor Tim Wilmetti.
In addition to working to boost church congregation and engagement, the physical church itself is also seeing many improvements.
Recently, church staff and volunteers were working with crews to repaint and refloor several areas within the church.
Those driving by the church located at 3517 Headleys Mill Road SW will also soon see changes, Wilmetti said, when much of the church exterior undergoes a planned re-siding. That work augments recent improvements made to portions of the structure’s roof.
“We are in a revitalization process,” Wilmetti said. “We’ve kind of been in decline. We needed a revitalization pastor.”
Wilmetti, formerly a Methodist pastor, as well as having spent several years as an Army Reserve chaplain assigned to the 983rd Engineer Battalion, was selected to be that pastor and to help boost declining church membership.
Wilmetti graduated with a Master of Divinity from Asbury Theological Seminary in 2015 and served in pastoral ministry for four years before moving with his family to Pataskala.
“My wife grew up in this fellowship of churches,” he said. The Wilmetti family arrived to help lead the church forward last fall. Tim and wife Ashlie have three daughters: Emma, Kayla, and Leah.
“We’re focusing more on engaging people and community,” Wilmetti said. “As part of that process, we felt like we needed to upgrade our facilities.”
In all, those improvements will total about $225,000, the pastor said.
