I want to write to you all and tell you the great thing that God has done for my family and me in the last two weeks. As Ruth and I go back over what has happened, we can only come to one conclusion, the Lord God truly did a miracle. This has also been confirmed by the doctors involved as well.
On June 10th, after church, my family and I were changing to go out to eat; our 3 boys went out to play, while the rest of us got our shoes on. As we came outside to leave, we could not find Caleb our youngest, 2 years old. We searched all over our 3-acre yard and could not find him. Mary-Catherine told us she had checked our pool, which was still closed up from winter, so the cover was still strapped down, etc.
When Mary-Catherine said “pool,” Ruth ran to the pool and pulled up the cover at the only place it would come up. She did not see anything, but as she put it down and turned to leave, she heard some bubbling and saw the cover move. She picked it up again and looked further back and saw two 1-inch orange stripes sticking up out of the water, these are the stripes on the bottom of Caleb’s sandals.
She screamed for me and I ran over and, with God-given adrenalin, ripped the cover up and jumped in. Caleb was about 15 to 20 feet back in the pool under the cover, all that was sticking out of the water were his tiny sandals. As I ran back to him, all that ran through my mind was, “will he be alive or dead when I get there? What am I going to find?”
When I got to him and picked him up, he was totally limp, blue, unconscious and not breathing. I truly thought he was dead. I put him on the deck and got on my face and cried out to the Lord, “please do not take him from us!!!” Ruth began to give him CPR that she had learned in college, on the 3rd attempt he started breathing again and screaming.
