Prayers are deeply appreciated for the victims and families of the devastating train accident Tuesday night in Philadelphia. For you familiar with the area, the accident happened just a short distance from CE National’s Urban Hope and Kurt and Anecia Miller’s home, who serve with the Grace Brethren church planting ministry, MetroGrace. Kurt reports that they noticed many police cars and ambulances speeding past their home about 9:30 p.m.and wondered what had happened. A short time later the breaking news came across the television.
This has been a particularly difficult time for emergency personnel. Please pray for the fire, police and EMS responders; and, for the many medical personnel who saw more than 200 injured people in four nearby hospitals. There are several patients who are still listed in critical condition.
There have been seven fatalities listed so far. Not everyone is accounted for yet. Five of the seven have been identified as of this writing. All of them were professional people riding in the business-class car (the first car behind the locomotive). Three were from New York City, one from New Jersey and one from Philadelphia. One of them was a young Navy Mid-Shipman returning from leave.
