Phyllis S. Stauffer of Grace Village Retirement Community in Winona Lake, Ind., went home to be with the Lord at 5:55 p.m. on Thursday, December 7, 2017, at Grace Village Health Care at the age of 83.
She was born on May 9, 1934, in Elizabethtown, Pa., to Maris Gainer and Ora (Stauffer) Gainer. She was married on December 28, 1952, to Glenn H. Stauffer. They shared 56 years of marriage together before he passed away on November 6, 2009.
Phyllis was a resident of Kosciusko County, Ind., for the past 52 years coming from Pennsylvania. She was a longtime member of Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church in Winona Lake, Ind., where for many years she had the joy of babysitting for M.O.P.S. and attended the Woman of Grace. Phyllis was a food service worker throughout her life, she worked in the kitchen at Grace College and Grace Village Retirement Community, Winona Lake, Ind., and even Kosciusko Community Hospital in Warsaw, Ind. She retired in 1999 and the highlight of her retirement was to be able to travel the world with her husband Glenn. They were able to go on many mission trips to Germany, Argentina, and France. She will be dearly missed by her family, her church family, and countless friends.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Kathy S. Stauffer (West Peoria, Ill.); four sons: Gerald L. (wife Mary) Stauffer (Orion, Mich.); Steven G. (wife Sandra) Stauffer (Warsaw, Ind.); Douglas B. (wife Donna) Stauffer (Ithaca, N.Y.); Michael S. (wife Marlissa) Stauffer (Hilliard, Ohio); seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her parents, husband Glenn H. Stauffer, granddaughter Rachael Stauffer, and her brother, Wilbur Stauffer.
Visitation will be held on Monday, December 11, 2017, from 10:00 a.m. – Noon at Winona Lake Grace Brethren Church, 1200 Kings Highway, Winona Lake, Ind. Her funeral service will follow viewing at Noon at the church and officiated by Pastor Bruce Barlow. A private family graveside service will take place at Oakwood Cemetery of Warsaw. Arrangements were entrusted to Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home of Warsaw.
