Plans are being made to mobilize teams from Charis Fellowship congregations to help with storm clean-up and recovery in the wake of Hurricane Florence in North Carolina.
Barb Wooler, director of crisis response for Encompass World Partners says she has connected with several “very strong evangelical local churches with whom we are partnering to serve their communities. We are looking for individuals and teams we can send starting in two weeks.
She says that local churches in the region are still helping with rescue and recovery. Skilled and unskilled labor is needed during this phase, she says, which include sandbagging, patching holes in roofs, removing downed trees, etc. In about two weeks, teams with skilled laborers will be needed to help with reconstruction, much like what teams did in Houston last year following Hurricane Harvey.
Barb will be traveling to North Carolina next week to solidify partnerships and make additional arrangements.
She encourages people who are interested in helping or have questions, to contact her via email or by phone, 574-453-6479.
