[Sunday, March 24, 2013, Central African Republic] According to multiple sources, early this morning the capital city of Bangui was overrun by rebel forces seeking the overthrow of the government. The situation is chaotic, with widespread looting is reported near the Encompass mission compound. Currently there are six Encompass staff members whom we are seeking to evacuate from the country.
Bangui is also home to more than seventy Grace Brethren Churches, with tens of thousands of members, as well as the headquarters for the James Gribble Leadership Training Complex, Project Hope and Charité, and many other key ministries.
We are calling upon Grace Brethren across North America and around the world to set aside time today to intercede for peace on behalf of our brothers and sisters in the CAR. Check back periodically for additional updates at www.encompassworldpartners.org.
