Your prayers are encouraged for Cheryl Kaufman, formerly a missionary in Central African Republic and now a part of the missions team at the Worthington, Ohio, Grace Brethren Church. She is facing surgery for colon cancer, and this note from Cheryl gives more details:
“Upon a simple screening of my colon (colonoscopy), a cancerous polyp was found early which is why they do these. That’s a praise!
“They removed the polyp and I was referred to a colorectal surgeon. He said he would like to remove part of my colon, just in case there are other cancerous cells. They will be able to detect whether they need to do any radiation, or if it is ‘cured’ and just keep an eye on things.
“I am going to have surgery (Lord willing) on May 14 (hospital stay is 4-7 days) and will be recovering probably about 4-6 weeks if nothing else is discovered. Praise the Lord with me for the medical technology in this country (USA) to be able to detect these things early!
“I am in the Lord’s hands and am trusting Him and appreciate the prayers of God’s people because of knowing what that means for me as well as those who are communicating to the One Who truly is in control!
“You can pray for the new ‘contact base’ of unbelievers that is being extended to me at this time in my life along with my encouragement to other Christ followers in my pathway. Pray for Carla, my haircutter who has appeared hard-hearted spiritually, but when telling her this news, she expressed her desire to come to the hospital.”
We send our thoughts and prayers for a successful surgery and a speedy recovery
