“As the death toll from Saturday’s earthquake in Nepal passes 2,300, please pray for help for so many people who have lost so much,” says Barb Wooler, director of crisis response at Encompass World Partners. “Pray for wisdom as Encompass World Partners seeks the Lord concerning how to best help. We have some excellent leads of strong Christian agencies on the ground with whom we are considering partnering.”
A powerful 7.8 magnitude earthquake hit the country around midday on Saturday, April 25. Aftershocks have continued to jolt the region.
“We are thankful that all of the kids and staff of Asia’s Hope India are safe and properties seem undamaged,” the Asia’s Hope Facebook page reported. “But we are concerned for our brothers and sisters in nearby Nepal. Please pray that the Church will be a light in this time of death and destruction.”
Asia’s Hope, a cooperating ministry in the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches, has several homes in northern India.
Wooler, who is working to find practical ways people in Grace Brethren congregations can respond, continues to ask for prayer.
“The main thing believers in Nepal are asking for right now is PRAYER. This doesn’t require a plane ticket or special skills. Join thousands in sending a cloudburst of light to that place of pain and loss,” she says.
She ask that people pray for three specific things:
- Pray for material and medical supplies to get to those who need it most
- Pray that grace and compassion will flow through Nepalis believers
- Pray that in this time of horrific loss, some will find their way to God
