The Fellowship Council of the FGBC is pleased to nominate Pastor Bartley Sawatsky, of Grace Community Church, Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, to a three-year term as moderator of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches. Sawatsky will be on the ballot at the annual meeting of the FGBC at Vision2020West, in Indian Wells, California, for a three-year term beginning after conference in 2013.
According to his church’s website, born and raised in Nova Scotia, Bartley has lived in the Greater Toronto Area since 1997 when he and the original church-planting team arrived to start Grace Community Church. Bartley attended the New Brunswick Bible Institute and then Washington Bible College and Capital Bible Seminary in Washington, D.C., where he received his Master of Divinity degree.
Bartley is a highly creative teacher and Grace’s visionary lead pastor. He played AAA Midget hockey as a 17-year old and is competitive to a fault. He loves discussing issues of faith with irreligious people. In his spare time, he enjoys playing hockey, golf, or fantasy football. He escapes to the ocean any chance he can get. He cheers for the Calgary Flames.
Bartley has been married to Sarah, a native of Trois-Rivières, Quebec, since 1993. They have four children: Maggy, Jakob, Emma and Josef.
