From the Altoona (PA) Mirror:
A memorial foundation has been established through the Central Pennsylvania Community Foundation, Altoona, in memory of Aaron N. Stuckey, who died from injuries suffered in a motorcycle accident on May 13, 2005.
Aaron was born April 2, 1984. He attended Martinsburg Grace Brethren Church and formerly attended First Baptist Church of Altoona.
He was a 2002 graduate of Central High School, Martinsburg, and the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center, where he studied automotive mechanics.
While at the GACTC, Aaron received the AAA Excellence in Automotive Technology/
Diesel Award, the special recognition award for auto-motive/light diesel technology and took second place in the 2002 Pennsylvania State USA VICA competition for Automotive Service Specialization.
Aaron was a student at Penn State Altoona majoring in mechanical engineering when he lost his life.
“Aaron enjoyed riding dirt bikes, camping, fishing, hunting, mechanics and spending time with his family, especially his daughter Alaina and friends. He had a great sense of humor and spent time developing friendships with and helping many people,’’ said his parents, Ellen and Joseph Stuckey.
To continue Aaron’s legacy of caring and generosity, his parents, his sister Laura and other family members have created the Aaron N. Stuckey Memorial Foundation and will present scholarships in memory of Aaron each year.
High school seniors from Central High School, Northern Bedford County High School, Loysburg, and the Greater Altoona Career and Technology Center who will be pursuing higher education in technical, mechanical or agricultural fields will be eligible for the scholarships.
Joshua Feathers of Central High School and Zachary Hart of Northern Bedford County High School were the recipients of the first Aaron N. Stuckey Memorial Scholarships.
Students interested in applying for the 2007 scholarships should see their guidance counselors next year.
