Dugger Union Community School Corp. put its best foot forward Wednesday night during a public hearing before Grace College officials as it sought a charter-school sponsorship from the university.
DUCSC officials noted a shared vision with the evangelical Christian college in speaking to the three Grace officials overseeing the public hearing.
“Grace College has a lot of the same ideals, ethical viewpoints and morals that are representative of Dugger,” said DUCSC board member Greg Ellis in answer to a question from Grace College Executive Officer of Academic Affairs Tim Ziebarth concerning how the school corporation sees its partnership with Grace.
“We would welcome as much involvement as you would be willing to offer,” Ellis continued. “But we feel that we have set up a system where we can operate on our own.”
About 300 citizens attended the public hearing, with 20 speaking directly to the Grace officials in hopes of obtaining the college as a charter sponsor.
