Grace Theological Seminary, Winona Lake, Ind., has been recommended for accreditation by the Association of Theological Schools (ATS) following an April visit by the group’s evaluation committee. The recommendation will be officially voted on by the ATS board of commissioners in early June, 2010.
It is anticipated that the seminary will receive accreditation for a period of five years (through spring 2015). This is the maximum number of years given for initial accreditation by ATS.
The committee’s exit report further noted that they found Grace’s “issues needing further work” to be relatively few when compared with other schools being reviewed for accreditation.
Seminary degrees being recommended for accreditation are: Master of Divinity, Master of Arts in Intercultural Studies, Master of Arts (Theological Studies), Doctor of Ministry, and Doctor of Missiology (Korean).
“We are grateful for the excellent work of the seminary administration, faculty, and staff and Dr. Carrie Yocum who wrote the self-study,” said Dr. Jeff Gill, dean of the seminary. “This is a landmark day in the life of Grace Theological Seminary. Let’s praise the Lord for this good news!”
