Grace Brethren girls soccer wins second consecutive CIF title
CORONA — It did not take long for Grace Brethren to flex its muscles in the CIF Southern Section Division 7 girls soccer final on Saturday at Corona High School
Joana Schimmel scored in the sixth minute and the high-powered Lancer offense kept it going as Grace Brethren won 4-1 to defeat Webb for its second consecutive title.
The repeat treat got sweeter as head coach Vince Allegra suddenly dropped and did 10 burpees on the turf ‑ the price of losing a wager with daughter Francesca and fellow goalkeeper Morgan Meredith in practice.
“I actually owe more,” Allegra said, “I put it off for as many weeks as possible and I told them that I would do 10 if we win today.”
