Grace Brethren looks to finish the job with its first state football title
Fifteen games in, Troy Hothan says there is no slowing down.
“I feel great,” the senior defensive back for the Grace Brethren High football team says with a wry smile. “I think I could play five more games.”
One more will be sufficient. After a lengthy, demanding and wholly rewarding season that includes a 13-2 record, a Camino League title and second straight CIF-Southern Section championship, Hothan and the Lancers have one last game to play.
It’s about unfinished business too. After losing a year ago in its first-ever appearance in a CIF-State Bowl Game, Grace Brethren is back to finish the job.
The Lancers, who won the SoCal Regional crown two weeks ago, will take on NorCal winner Del Oro in the CIF-State Division 2AA Bowl Game beginning at 4 p.m. Friday at Cerritos College.
