High school football notebook: Grace Brethren enjoying return to its roots
The county’s most dominant high school football program for the past half decade is on reboot.
It doesn’t mean the enthusiasm has diminished, says Grace Brethren High head coach Tom Coate.
“The kids are excited, and it’s been great to see,” said the Lancers’ first-year coach. “They’re excited to come to practice. They’re excited to play games. The support has been great. We’re looking to make football an enjoyable experience for our players.”
So far, so good. Fielding an 8-man football team for the first time in nearly two decades, the Lancers are off to 2-1 start while playing an independent schedule.
