Another shutout puts Grace Brethren into semifinals
Zikel Reddick scored four times — including touchdown runs of 95, 82 and 88 yards — and rushed for 328 yards to lead Grace Brethren to a 37-0 win over Desert in an East Valley Division quarterfinal game at Moorpark College on Friday night.
On three different drives, Desert moved the ball inside the Grace Brethren 10-yard line, but all three times the Lancers got the stop on fourth down and preserved its county record-tying eighth shutout of the season.
“This was a great night for our defense,” said Grace Brethren head coach Josh Henderson. “I believe this was our best defensive performance in two years.
“Desert is a really good team, and I was concerned we might have a letdown since we already beat them 41-0 earlier this year.”
Grace Brethren (12-0) has been piling up blowouts this season, with its closest game a 21-point win over Heritage Christian early in the season, but the Lancers are ready for a challenge. Next up is a semifinal game at Brethren Christian next Friday night.
