Three local churches broken into on same night
CAMBRIA COUNTY, Pa. —
Police in Cambria County are looking for help to find the people they say broke into at least three churches over the weekend. The thieves didn’t get away with much but they did leave behind some damage.
Those churches are located within 4 miles of each other on Route 271 in Jackson and East Taylor townships. …
Police believe the culprits’ next stop was Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church, where they smashed a window and damaged several doors before getting inside.
“The thieves broke in through our doors here and since then we’ve done some repair. We’ve since included a padlock on this side,” said Pastor Drew Walther of Singer Hill Grace Brethren Church. “They broke into these file cabinets and took the contents and spread them out on the floor.”
Walther said the church office was also ransacked, and a safe hidden in the filing cabinet was broken into, but the thieves left empty-handed.
“No money is kept here,” said Walther. “It’s all deposited on Sunday night in the bank.”
