Nearly 75 Grace Brethren pastors and ministry leaders from around the west coast are gathered this week at The Oaks Camp and Conference Center, Lake Hughes, Calif., for the annual Southwest Focus Retreat.
Led by Clancy Cruise, executive director of the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches and pastor of Grace Church, Marysville, Ohio, the three days away are focusing on the pastor and his family. Sessions are designed to give opportunity for the men to encourage one another in a variety of situations.
Arriving late Monday afternoon, the group participated in “speed dating” where individuals were given opportunity to meet one on one with another person to get acquainted. Later they dispersed into larger groups to discuss questions related to family and ministry. Following dinner, they spent time in worship, led by Jason Dunn, worship leader at Los Altos Grace Brethren Church, Long Beach, Calif.
Tuesday morning, they continued their small group discussions. Late in the morning they will hear a report on the Charis Alliance and rebranding in the Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches. The afternoon is free for recreation, fellowship, and rest. They gather tonight for dinner and an evening session. The retreat concludes Wednesday morning.
