Would you like to lead your church to engage the “Financial-Spiritual battle” that is raging in our society? Ted Rondeau, a certified financial planner (CFP) on staff with the Winona Lake (IN) Grace Brethren Church and Integrated Community Development International (ICDI – a non-profit community development ministry in Central Africa), has developed a teaching and preaching series designed to lead people into Biblical-Financial Freedom.
An old adage says, “Desperate people do desperate things.” As you read and listen to the news these days, there are many stories of people acting out of desperation as a result of the financial crisis in our country.
“Desperation” is NOT a characteristic or circumstance that those connected to Jesus should find themselves in, Rondeau says. Radical thoughts and actions influenced by desperation are sure signs of financial-spiritual warfare and the attempts of the enemy of our soul to do us harm.
Jesus says we should cast all our cares upon Him for He cares for us (1 Peter 5:7). These words from scripture immediately precede the warning to “…be self-controlled and alert. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.”
Are you feeling devoured, desperate? DON’T GO IT ALONE! Contact your pastor for prayer and counsel.
Former NFL football player, now prison ministry evangelist, Bill Glass would often say that people are most open to the gospel when they are faced with crisis in life. Today, more than ever, we who know the “peace that passes understanding” can be out plantin’ the seeds of hope, peace and freedom that Jesus offers. Rondeau urges, “Use these financially troubling times to start conversations and plant yourself into the lives of those who desperately need to be connected to Jesus.”
