Susan M. Gibbons, a professional artist from Denver, Colo., will present her work on Friday, Octobert 28 at 6:30 p.m.during the opening of her exhibit, “The Adam Series,” in the Grace College Art Gallery at Mount Memorial Hall, 200 Seminary Dr., Winona Lake, Ind. From 6:30-7 p.m., Gibbons will present an artist’s talk. A reception will follow until 9 p.m. The community is welcome to attend the free event.
Gibbons will hold a collagraph workshop on Saturday, Octobert 29, from 9-11 a.m. in Mount Memorial, room 109. The community is welcome to attend the class; tickets are $10. Grace students may attend for free. Interested parties should RSVP to vpma@grace.edu.
Gibbons works with the ancient media of encaustic (pigmented bee’s wax) as well as with acrylic, oil, graphite, ink and mixed media. Current bodies of work reflect poetry, nature, times of contemplation and prayer. Her work capitalizes on the interaction between textures, subtleties, colors and contrasts.
In addition to solo and group exhibitions, Gibbons’ work has been exhibited in various galleries nationally and internationally. Her work is held in private collections and has been included in publications. Gibbons holds a master’s degree in fine art from Azusa Pacific University and a bachelor’s degree in fine art from Colorado State University. Gibbons also enjoys teaching college students and adults through community workshops. She is represented by The Royal Contemporary Gallery in Florence, Colo.
