Family members this weekend are reporting the death of Sylvia Jentes of Placentia, California, this past Wednesday, following a massive heart attack and several days on life support. She is the wife of former Grace Brethren pastor Don Jentes. Services are tentatively scheduled for January 29.

Don grew-up attending a Grace Brethren Church in Wooster, Ohio. During his involvement with youth activities at the church, he dedicated himself to serve the Lord in full-time service. He graduated from Grace College with B.A. in 1964 and graduated from Grace Theological Seminary in 1968 with a Diploma in Theology. He met Sylvia at Grace College and they were married June 15 1968 in La Habra, California. Don pastored two churches, one in Garwin, IA and second one in Albuquerque, NM. In May 1982, they moved to Hemet, California.
Don has served as Chaplain of Hemet Valley Medical Center and Staff Chaplain since October 20, 1982. He serves under the Healthcare Chaplains Ministry Association which is placement, training organization. Don has been the HCMA Area Director of Inland Empire for the past 9 years. He oversees approximately 15 HCMA Chaplains of the Inland Empire as well as 15 volunteer chaplains at three hospitals of the Valley Health System. Sylvia worked as a nurse at Hemet Valley Medical Center from the time they arrived in Hemet until she retired in January 2001.
They have two children, Sharon and Dan. Sharon married Efren Haas and they have three children. She is a teacher in Baldwin Park teaching 4th grade. Dan lives in Hemet and works as a Designer/Drafter in Temecula.
