Pastors from the North Atlantic Fellowship of Grace Brethren Churches gathered on Wednesday to exam several men who represent Charis Fellowship congregations in the region. Galen Wiley, chair of the examination board, chaired the day, which was held at Gateway Grace Community Church, Parkesburg, Pa.
Galen reports that the district is following the new procedures for ordination as recommended by the Association of Grace Brethren Ministers. As a result, three men were introduced into the ordination process at that meeting, including Charles Hirschy of Grace Church at Willow Valley, Lancaster, Pa., and Paul Sigmund and Ryan Landis at Penn Valley Grace, Telford, Pa. This is the first step in the new process where a man works under a mentor while preparing for the actual written and oral exam process.
The group also conducted oral ordination exams for three men who had previously been examined for licensure. These are Adam Swift, Grace Church at Willow Valley, Lancaster, Pa.; Andy Sparks, Grace Church of Lititz, Pa.; and Scott Feather, Gateway Church, Parkesburg, Pa. They were all recommended unanimously to their local churches for ordination.
