Timothy, let me share some values that I’ve attempted to live out and I hope you grasp and apply as you live out your life.
Watch your thoughts because those seeds will take root in your mind and soul. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus. As a man thinks in his heart so is he. Your thinking is sacred. Whatever you do keep your thoughts pure and holy.
Watch your words because you can’t take them back once they leave your mouth. Say words that encourage those around you. Avoid critical, hostile words. They will kill the potential in the ones that hear them. May your words be filled with thanksgiving and praise both to God and those around you.
Watch your actions. God sees what you do and so do those that see your actions every day. I want my actions to help not hurt those in my life. Actions done in anger, shame, and greed not only hurt those they are directed toward but will eventually hurt you.
Watch your habits because they will control your life. I’ve had bad habits and good habits. I’ve had to be intentional in dealing with the bad habits I’ve fallen into. If I hadn’t dealt with those habits that were sinful and destructive they would have destroyed my life. Replace bad habits with healthy ones. Your life will be better for it.
Watch your character. Your character is who you are deep down inside. Don’t keep dirty little secrets. Those secrets will eat you alive. Keep addressing your character flaws. Find someone safe to help you change and become the Godly man God wants you to be and you want to become.
You are making a legacy. May it be one that those who come behind you would do well to follow the model you have set. May your family and friends say they saw Jesus lived out in your life.
